Frequently Asked Questions

Common answers regarding hardware certificate standards, ammunition procurement, and age limitations.

Are there Age Restrictions?
No firm age restrictions apply for supervised club shooting, though emotional and physical suitability generally sets the minimum around age 9. No upper limit applies.
Do I need a Firearm Certificate to join?
No. Blairgowrie Rifle Club provides club rifles and air pistols for member use on-site, and unused ammunition can be stored securely at the club.
How do I get ammunition?
Rimfire ammunition and air pellets are available for purchase directly at the club, with secure storage options for those without a Firearm Certificate.
What costs are there on top of the Membership fee?
No per-visit range fees apply. Members buy only targets, ammunition (rimfire from roughly £6 for 50; air pellets around £7 for 500), and optional seasonal competition entry fees (£5-12).
Do I have to compete or meet a certain standard?
Safety is the only strict requirement. Competition participation is completely optional, catering to everyone from casual participants to elite athletes.
